Luis Suarez has prevented any speculation linking him with a move to Italian club Juventus by signing a new contract with Liverpool, according to the Liverpool news website. The 25-year-old Uruguay striker has been linked with Italian club Juventus throughout the summer.
It was thought that he has grown extremely frustrated with life in the United Kingdom after being constantly abused after being found guilty of racially abusing Patrice Evra. However, the 25-year-old has signed a new deal with the club that will see his wages increment numerous amounts to its present value of £ 120,000 per week. This makes Luis Suarez one of the high earners at the club.
Even though the striker had four years left on his existing deal, Liverpool were extremely keen to tie him on a long-term deal due to the interest from Juventus. After winning their first major title since 2003, Juventus are looking to revamp the squad in such a way that they will be able to challenge for the Champions League title this season. Luis Suarez and Robin van Persie have been two main target for the club in this transfer window. After signing a new contract, Luis Suarez has said that he is extremely delighted to extend his stay with Liverpool.
“To sign a new contract with Liverpool is unbelievable for me because I am so happy here at both the club and also in the city. That is important for me and I am very happy with my new contract. I am happy off the pitch because the people of Liverpool are good with me and my family. I try my best on the pitch and when you are happy off the pitch, you are happy on the pitch,” said the striker after the announcement of the new deal. Luis Suarez was eliminated from the London Olympics in the quarter-final stage.
