The Juventus midfielder Andrea Pirlo has said that the club does not only want to succeed in the Champions League this season and are looking to do well in all competitions. Juventus managed to lift the league title for the first time in nine seasons.
They even went unbeaten throughout the season, which was also a record for the current format of the Italian Serie A. As a result, many are predicting that the club will be focusing only on doing well in the Champions League this season, as they have spent a long time waiting to play in this competition.
It has been more than a decade since Juventus last won the Champions League. Even though the star midfielder Andrea Pirlo, who was influential in the success last season, has said that the club are desperate for success in the European competition, it would not prevent them from focussing on all competitions they participate. Pirlo has stressed that they would like to win the league title once more. Juventus have made a good start to the new season after they have won their first two matches of the Italian Serie A campaign. Pirlo has said that he hopes they will be able to repeat the success of last season.
“We enjoyed a great 2011-12 campaign and we’re looking to build on that. The club has had an excellent transfer campaign, which should enable us to challenge for silverware in all competitions. We have started the new season with the ambition to do well in all competitions,” Pirlo stated to Sky Sport Italia. Juventus started the new season with matches against Parma and Udinese. The 2-0 win over Parma was followed by a stunning 4-1 win over Udinese. Pirlo has stated that they would like to maintain the good start to the season.
